Engineer - HVAC – CDU Systems

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance

  • Perform planned preventive maintenance and respond to unplanned service requirements on CDUs, HVAC & Chilled water infrastructure.
  • Execute daily, weekly, and monthly operational checks & BMS/DCIM trend reviews as per OEM guidelines to ensure optimal performance and compliance with industry standards.
  • Monitor CDU alarms and alerts through coordination of BMS/DCIM systems & Routine walkaround checks.
  • Diagnose issues and take corrective actions promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain close cooperation with CDU OEMs and vendors for technical support.
  • Assist in developing maintenance scripts and SOPs for routine checks and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain accurate service records, event logs, and maintenance history.
  • Prepare reports on CDU performance, incidents, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with facility management and engineering teams to assess HVAC & CDU unit’s requirements and implement effective solutions.
  • Required to carry out timely mitigations with EOPs & repairs and corrective maintenance on equipment to avoid any risk and ensure management of overall site capacity.
  • Identify potential areas for accidents resulting in injury within Operations (hazards), decide the probability of someone getting injured and how fatal it can be (the risk) and take action to eliminate the hazard.
  • Maintain N/N+1 loop redundancy. 

 Vendor Management / Customer Service

  • Coordinate with OEM, contractor work and Site operations to ensure completion to Khazna's required standards, (KPI's) Key Performance Indicators and (SLA's) Service Level Agreements
  • Perform the work safely, optimally and with high regard to human error avoidance.
  • Perform the customer requirements such as inquiries, deployment, expansion, tours, etc. and prioritize customer’s emergencies or urgent issues as they arise and make every effort to provide a long-term resolution.
  • Perform the Spare parts & critical components audit and report.
  • Maintain OEM escalations and service ticket management.

 Incident Management

  • Communicates and coordinates activities with on-site staff during an incident and supports a root cause analysis and resolves the incident.
  • Perform and provide technical analysis during major incidents.
  • RCA analysis support with proactive actions implementation.

Quality, Health, Safety & Environment

  •  Comply with all relevant safety, quality, and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment

Role Specifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

▪ Bachelor’s degree in engineering

Minimum Experience:

▪ 3+ years of experience in hyper scale DCs, Service providers or with OEMs CDUs, in-rack cooling, direct-to-chip, HVAC systems maintenance, preferably in critical environments.

▪ Strong knowledge of HVAC principles, energy management, and relevant codes/standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA).

▪ Proficiency in HVAC design software and building management systems (BMS).

▪ Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

▪ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Job-Specific Skills (Generic / Technical): 

▪ Knowledge of glycol concentration management, water quality testing, filtration systems.

▪ Ability to read P&IDs, control diagrams, and hydraulic balancing.

▪ Strong troubleshooting for sensors, valves, control boards.

▪ Knowledgeable of data center best practices

▪ Fluency in English (read, write, speaks) with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

▪ Ability to meet or exceed the company’s attendance and punctuality standards.

▪ Ability to evaluate objectively, fairly, and consistently and work in a high-pressure environment, meet deadlines and simultaneously develop, deploy and coordinate multiple projects.

▪ Ability to understand and follow directions, self-driven, work independently with minimal supervision, must be inspirational, enjoy motivating others and able to manage multiple tasks.
